    August 16, 2010 by admin

    Today – Day 10:

    BBFS 4 – Peckham Town 0

BBFS U16’s put on a much improved display in the final match of the UK tour, to record a convincing 4-0 victory over Peckham’s Town 15’s.

Kirt Brown led the forward line and capped a dynamic performance by netting twice. Chae Brangman and Errin Tankard grabbed a goal each, to close the tour on a high note.

    Match Report:

BBFS gradually took control of the match and were unfortunate to have narrowly missed the net on 3 previous attacks on goal. It took a piece of magic from Errin Butterfield to break the deadlock. After a neat build up on the left flank between Jahmeko Harvey Outerbridge and Kirt Brown, Brown rolled the ball out wide to Butterfield. Butterfield managed to find space and hit a dipping 25 yard shot, which
flew over the keepers outstretched left hand. This set the tone for the remainder of the match.

Chae Brangman scored the second after a build up from the keeper to Daeshun Greene. Greene stroked the ball into Chae Brangman who slammed the ball home at the near post.

Kirt Brown playing with a sore hamstring, added two more. The first after a brilliant run and his second via a fine header from a corner.

Kirt Brown playing with a slightly strained hamstring led the forward line with a clinical performance of individual skill and work effort.

Peckham Town’s U16’s defeated BBFS 6 -0. Peckham took an early lead after 5 minutes and continued to score at will during the first half. After 35 minutes of play, the first half ended 5-0 to Peckham.

    Half time:

Coach Dennis Brown gave the players a pep talk and instructed them to be more confident, compact in defence and aggressive going forward.

    2nd Half:

The 2nd half saw BBFS regroup and increase their intensity for the remainder of the game. BBFS had 3 opportunities to get on the score sheet but on each effort, Peckham were able to make a goal-line clearance. In the closing minutes of the match, Peckham Town scored for the 6th time, to signal the difference in class between the two teams.

    BBFS Man of the Match:

Trae Harvey, outstanding in mid-field, led the team via his excellent performance. His tireless running, ability to remain composed while in possession and high rate of completed passes, bodes well for his football development.

Tomorrow will see the group have a rest day and tour various sites of interest in London, including shopping.

    Day 5
The group met at 6:45 am and continued with their daily fitness session, from 07:00 – 8:00 am. The rest of the morning was deemed for rest, as the afternoon would see the U10’s and U13’s, play their opening tour matches vs Peckham Town.

    Results:

The U10’s recorded a 3-1 win with goals by Jacob Greene, Kane Crichlow and Enrique Russell.

The U13’s came out on the losing end in a thrilling 7 goal encounter with 4-3 loss. The goalscorers for BBFS were Tyriko Williams, Nicholas Araujo and Ryan Parris.

    Match Report U10’s:

The U10’s started slowly, as this was the first time the majority of the team, have travelled to face overseas opposition. Once they realised that they could match the opposing team, they began to play more freely and with confidence.

After 10 minutes of play, Jacob Greene (substitute) hit a low diagonal shot to the far post, which narrowly slipped past the outstretched legs of Peckham’s Town Goal- keeper. Two minutes later, Kane Crichlow struck a scorcher which sailed inside the keepers near post. BBFS U10’s finished the first half playing some free flowing football with 2-0 lead.

    2nd half:

The 2nd half saw BBFS go up 3-0 with Enrique Russell striking a beautiful right-footed drive, low and hard to the bottom right of the keeper.

After falling behind 3-0, Peckham Town regrouped and scored via Daeshun Hall (son of Bryan Hall). Hall struck a crisp drive which beat keeper Chris Walsh, through a maze of players.

BBFS could have added a few more goals to their tally but some outstanding saves from Peckham Town’s Goal-keeper, kept the scoreline close.

    Match Report – U13’s:

BBFS U13’s were caught sleeping after going down 3-0 inside of 20 minutes. The physical play of Peckham and their quick interplay, took some adjusting to by the U13’s. With the half coming to a close, Tyriko Williams put BBFS on the score sheet to make it 3-1.

    Half time:

At the half, Director of Coaching Dennis Brown, addressed the players and highlighted key areas where the team could improve; Physical play, speed of play, maintaining possession and being confident when on the ball. The players listened to the instructions from Coach Brown and prepared for the 2nd half.

    2nd Half:

Peckham started where they left off, by adding a 4th goal inside of 3 minutes of the restart. After a few tactical changes by Coach Brown, BBFS came back into the match.

Substitute Nicholas Araujo came onto the field and stamped his authority. Having taken control of the left flank, he half volleyed a cross into the back of the net, after some aggressive work by Alex Alvera (substitute).

The team continued to grow in confidence and scored a third via Ryan Parris. Parris hit a shot on the turn and the score was now 4-3. Parris almost snatched the equaliser, when he rose above the defence of Peckham Town, only to see his powerful header rebound of the upright. That was the final play of the match as the referee blew for full-time.

Coach Brown addressed both the U10 and U13 teams and expressed his pleasure with their performance in both matches.
